Service Under Article 10 Hague Service Convention
When a country or state is contracting member to the Hague Convention, Article 10 of the Convention allows us to completely bypass the slow Central Authority queues and use faster, direct methods of service – provided the destination country has not formally objected to them.
Depending on the country where your defendant is located, we utilise three primary Article 10 channels:
- Article 10(a) – Direct Postal Channels: In countries that allow it, we can legally effect service by sending the documents directly to the defendant via international registered mail or secure express couriers (like DHL or FedEx).
- Article 10(b) – Local Judicial Officers: In jurisdictions that object to mail but allow local legal networks, we skip the government bureaus and hire local process servers, directly within the destination country to hand deliver the papers.
- Article 10(c) – Service by Interested Persons: This allows our firm to directly instruct and coordinate with foreign legal officials to execute service, cutting weeks of administrative delays out of the equation.
